Introduction

Events as a strategic marketing and communications tool is widely used by companies to introduce, launch, promote, and sell products and services. Events management has become imperative amongst marketers, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference sand Exhibitions) organizers, brand builders, and advertising professionals, which led to a serious study on the ‘science of event management’.

The popularity of events led Experts to establish the discipline as a profession, and not anymore as ad hoc committee work.

The Event Manager is a professional who plans, designs, and executes event projects and activations. Event Managers and their teams are often behind-the-scenes running the project.

Event managers are involved in the planning, designing, and execution of activities, brand building, marketing, and communication strategies. The event manager is an Expert in creative/design, digital marketing/advertising, and technical/logistical elements in staging event projects.

1. Lifecycle of Events – Phases, Program Design, Post-Event Feedback

– overall process covering pre-event, during-the-event, and post-event (research, program design, planning, coordination and evaluation)
– venue/site selection
– identify in-house capability/resources and outsource services like translators, coordinators, registration/reception manpower requirements

2. Event Marketing, Communications, and Promotions

– promoting events in various media channels
– Digital, TV, Radio, Print, DOOH, etc.
– developing invitational campaign program strategies and implementation

3. Design, Creatives, Videos, and Reels for Events

– ideation process in coming up with the overall theme and creatives/graphic design, collaterals, invitations, banners, stage design, videos and reels for events

4. Leveraging Tech and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
in Events

– leveraging on disruptive technologies and AI for event management and marketing, eg., registration, ticketing, special effects, fun videos, reels, social media, etc.

5. Event Financial Management

– develop event budget, P&L, break-even, profit ratio,  and financial forecast
– importance of contracts, insurance, government requirements, etc.

6. Food and Beverage Event Requirements

– event menus, banqueting, waitering, physical set-up, room assignments

7. MICE Case Studies

– Weddings, Music Festival, Trade Shows & Conferences, Meetings & Incentives, Product Launches, Corporate Events

8. Event Project Presentations

– each group to present an event project
