Event Management Certification Course

Overview

The proliferation of ‘events’ as a strategic marketing and communication tool used by companies to introduce and promote products and services have lead practitioners and professionals to take a closer look at the science of ‘events management’ as a multi-disciplinary field of study. Its recent growth have led Experts on events management to establish the discipline as a profession and not anymore as an ad hoc committee work.

Alice Conway, CSEP, a US Events Management Expert and Guru, observed that ‘terminology in events management industry in the Philippines is a bit stranged. Corporate events professionals usually refer to ‘holiday events’ and not ‘Christmas Party’ because large corporations deal with many different ethnicities, and one must be very sensitive to diversity.’ Also, ‘party planning’ is not an appropriate term. There is a need to strengthen and standardize event industry concepts and terms based on international taxonomy and best practices.

The Event Manager is the person who plans and executes the event project. Event managers and their teams are often behind-the-scenes running the project. Event managers may also be involved in more than just the planning and execution of the event, but also brand building, marketing and communication strategy. The event manager is an Expert in the creative/design, marketing/advertising campaign, technical/logistical elements of the project. As a multi-dimensional profession, the Event Manager is also involved in audio-visual production, scriptwriting, talent sourcing and management, and lights/sounds production. (Source: Wiki).
