The Media Outlook 2019 presents more than just the usual economic forecasts we get from different media groups. Very few fora touch on the topic of marketing communications in a holistic approach – from looking at the current landscape, trends and forecasts, to its implications for the media industry in the coming year, 2019.

Jay is the Managing Director of Kantar Media Philippines. He celebrates his 25th year in field of media research this year.

Jay is a member of the Digital Measurement Board (DMB) of the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP), to which he serves as Director in 2013. He also served as a member of the Marketing and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines (MORES) where he was past President in 2010.

Jay earned his degree in AB Communication Arts from the Ateneo de Manila University and an MBA from the University of the Philippines.

Laureana Glady ‘Gladys’ R. Basinillo

Gladys rose from the ranks and has more than 27 years of extensive experience in media planning and buying. Her expertise in developing media strategies, across various verticals and major brands, was honed by her exposure in communications and consumer research over the years.

She started in Aspac and Grey as a Media Buyer right after college, and moved to at least 8 agencies until she got promoted to being CEO of Carat Philippines, Inc. in 2015. She became the first Chief Growth Officer and Head of Agency in the industry leading 3 agencies under Starcom Mediavest Group in 2017.

Gladys holds Bachelor of Science in Economics, major in Banking and Finance, from the University of the Philippines, Los Banos.

Prior to moving in the start up and consultancy arena, Ed’s career spanned across key markets in Asia and worked with global advertising and marketing networks: Omnicom Group and Havas.

He was CEO of Digital Arts Network (DAN)/TBWA Manila; Co-Founding Partner of Havas Media Ortega in Manila; Chief Innovation Officer, Havas Media China; CEO of Havas Digital, Beijing; CEO of Havas Digital Mumbia, India; CEO and President of Media Contacts, Philippines (now Havas);Regional Account Director, Euro RSCG (now Havas) in Singapore.

He is recognized father of the ‘Boomerangs’– considered as the Oscars of Digital marketing campaigns in the Philippines and just recently, Ed was the Director-In-Charge of the highly successful first Philippine Digital Congress in 2016 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

Lucien Dy Tioco

Lucien, as the Executive Vice President of Philstar Media Group, he leads the Sales and Marketing of The Philippine Star, Business World, Pilipino Star Ngayon, Freeman, Banat and PM. He oversees The Star’s multimedia platforms – Philstar TV, Philstar Digital, Philstar Outdoor and Philstar Social. Under his leadership, The Star has been recently appointed the sales and marketing arm of BloombergPH and TouchPay.

He became Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing for the country’s leading business newspaper, BusinessWorld since 2015. He handled the Marketing operations and grow the company’s advertising revenues.

His other past stints are from Philstar Daily, Inc., STAR Group of Publications, Stargate (People Asia Magazine) and OctoArts International.

Lucien is keen on popular music and the industry since his college years.

In OctoArts International, where he had his first job in the local recording business, he screened all international releases of different music genres ranging from pop to classical, from popular record labels, such as, Virgin, Chrysalis and RCA, suitable for local market that will assure record sales for the company.

Lucien received outstanding awards, such as, 2016 Agora Awardee in Marketing Communications for pushing the envelope for print media to thrive well in the changing media landscape.

He is also the CEO Excel Awardee in 2016 and University of Santo Tomas as an Outstanding Thomasian Alumni (TOTAL) Awardee in the field of media.

Lucien holds Bachelor of Arts (BA) Journalism in University of Santo Tomas. He earned his MBA in the University of Western Australia.

Ruperto ‘Jun’ S. Nicdao, Jr., serves as the President and Principal Operating Officer of Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC).

He serves as President of Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters sa Pilipinas (KBP) and a member of the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Makati Business Club.

He serves as a Director of Philippine International Corporation, Star Parks Corporation, Elizalde Holdings Corporation and Cultural Center of the Philippines.

He holds an MBA from Asian Institute of Management and a Bachelor’s degree major in Mathematics, Magna Cum Laude, from the De La Salle University.

Atty. Jose M. Vale is the Chairman of Outdoor Advertising Association of the Philippines, the core group of sign makers and owners of huge billboards all over the country. OAAP is an organization who make below-the-line advertising in the Philippines.

He is the Chairman and President of Luneta Advertising, Inc., a below-the-line advertising company specializes in large format digital printing, fabrication, construction, and installation. Luneta is a one-stop-shop for anything and everything billboard, stickers, LED video boards, and LED Projection Lighting.

He owns Sign Media Inc., an indoor and outdoor advertising company which specializes in portable display systems, indoor and outdoor photographic stickers, led boards, billboard/lamp post rentals and signages. Established in 1998 as a corporation with the primary objective of providing high quality and innovative products to serve the needs of advertisers. It continues to adapt to the latest trends and technologies in the industry so that it can offer a wide variety of product solutions to its customers.

Lloyd is a stalwart in outdoor advertising in the Philippines. His first brush with outdoor advertising and Out-of-Home (OOH) media, started more than 30 years ago having grown up in a family business which provided billboard space in the Visayas and Mindanao. Having worked his way up in the family business, he became the General Manager of Tronco Advertising based in Bacolod in1994.

In 2001, Out-of-Home (OOH) media began gaining popularity in the Philippines. Lloyd was hired by McCann Erickson Philippines’ media unit, Universal McCann to be part of a team specializing in out-of-home media.

At Universal McCann, he handled the Out-of-Home (OOH) media requirements of the agency, serving the requirements of Coca-Cola, Cathay Pacific, Mastercard, and Globe Telecom until early 2005.

Following the stint with Universal McCann, he set up a consultancy which developed the business of OOH media vendors, and serving the Out-of-Home (OOH) media needs of various media agencies. He is a Certified Digital Marketer and is an advocate of Out-of-Home (OOH) and digital channels to achieve maximum awareness for brands.
